Smartsheet is the platform for dynamic work that helps teams collaborate together in real-time from a single source of truth.

As a free user, you can view, edit, and update work that has been shared with you. However, you can't create new work in Smartsheet without a license.

If you’re a user outside the Pro Plan, you have view access only. Even if you’re shared as an Editor or an Admin, you must be a licensed member on the same plan to make changes to an asset.

Have you been shared to a sheet in Smartsheet for the first time? Collaborating with others in Smartsheet is free, easy, and secure. Just click the link contained in the sharing notification you received to create a Smartsheet password. You'll then be directed right to the sheet.

Smartsheet looks like a spreadsheet, but has additional features to help people work together— attached files, discussions, date reminders, and notifications of changes to the sheet.

Sheets may be shared to you as Viewer, Commenter, Editor, or Admin. To learn more about these different permission levels, review our Help Center article on sharing.

To check your permissions for a Smartsheet item (a sheet, report, or dashboard), select the Share button at the top of the item.

If you enjoy using Smartsheet and would like to use it to manage your own work, you can start a free 30-day trial by creating a new sheet. To create a new sheet, select the Solution Center (plus) icon from the left panel.
