As a free user, you can view, edit, and update work that has been shared with you. However, you cannot create new work in Smartsheet without a license.

Information for Free Collaborators
Have you been shared to a sheet in Smartsheet for the first time? Collaborating with others in Smartsheet is free, easy, and secure. Just click the link contained in the sharing notification you received to create a Smartsheet password. You'll then be directed right to the sheet.
Sheets may be shared to you as Viewer, Editor, or Admin. To learn more about these different permission levels, please review our Help Center article on sharing.
To check your permissions for a Smartsheet item (a sheet, report, or dashboard), click the Share button at the top of the item.
If you enjoy using Smartsheet and would like to use it to manage your own work, you can start a free 30 day trial by creating a new sheet. To create a new sheet, click the Solution Center (plus) icon from the left panel.
