Learn about Smartsheet user types.
User type and permission level both impact how you can interact with Smartsheet. While independent from each other, user type may restrict some capabilities for sharing permission levels.
User type defines what you can and can't do with Smartsheet. For example, a paid user can create new sheets, reports, and dashboards in Smartsheet, while a free user can only interact with items shared with them. System Admins manage user types for the plan.
Sharing permissions defines what you can and can’t do with a specific item in any plan. The level of access (or permission level) they grant determines how collaborators shared to that sheet can interact with it. You can share an item with others with Admin, Editor, or Viewer permissions. Users with Owners, Admins, and Editors - can share permissions on an item can grant permissions to other users.
