Learn about Smartsheet user types.
User type and permission level both impact how you can interact with Smartsheet.
User Type is determined by the System Admin and designates what you can and can't do with your own Smartsheet account. For example, a Licensed User can create new sheets, reports, and dashboards in Smartsheet while a Free User can only interact with items shared to them.
Sharing Permissions are granted by the Owner of a sheet and determine how the collaborators shared to that sheet are able to interact with it. An owner can share an item to others with Admin, Editor or Viewer permissions.
User type and sharing permissions are independent from each other. However, your user type may allow for additional sharing permission options if you are a Licensed User.
