When you're in Smartsheet using Smart Assist or working in an external AI tool (AI tool) connected to the Smartsheet MCP Server, you can use natural language to automate tasks, manage project data, and collaborate more efficiently.
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that enables AI systems to safely connect to external data sources and tools. It’s like a secure bridge between AI and your business applications–in this case, Smartsheet. Instead of manually copying data between Smartsheet and AI or performing repetitive tasks, MCP allows AI to interact directly with Smartsheet.
Get started with the Smartsheet MCP Server
Here are some of the ways you can get started using Smartsheet with AI:
- Open Smart Assist from within an item, by selecting the AI sparkle icon
located at the top-right corner of the screen. - Access Smartsheet using a Smartsheet MCP Server Connector in one of these AI assistants:
