Before you start

Confirm that you:

Jira Connector workflows are not scalable with Control Center. If data needs to be imported from Jira, the workflow needs to be created and linked to the sheet each time Control Center creates a new sheet. This approach depends on volume (of data being managed by all Connector workflows), and performance will degrade as volume increases.

Do:

  • Before upgrading Jira, confirm the installed version is compatible with the Connector.
  • Implement a governance process to own and maintain Jira Connector workflows.
  • Limit access to only those in the organization with a solid working knowledge of the Smartsheet and Jira applications.
  • Use a generic account to retain access if the Admin leaves your organization.  Because there is no option to transfer connection ownership, a generic account will help avoid the need to rebuild connections or workflows if the individual managing the connection to Jira leaves your organization.
  • Jira Connector users document their workflows (i.e., purpose, cadence, risk of updating/removing the workflow).
  • Favorite the Jira Connector page from the Help and Learning Center.
  • Repeat the setup instructions for each additional Jira instance that needs to be registered.
  • Be aware of the sheet limitations when connecting a sheet to a Jira workflow.
  • For better finding and management, use a prefix or suffix (e.g., Jira workflow ) on the sheet connected to a Jira workflow.
  • Delete workflows that are no longer used/valid.
