Delete Smartsheet items
Delete Smartsheet items you no longer use to free up space and remove clutter.

Find out if this capability is included in Smartsheet Regions or Smartsheet Gov.
If you don't have the appropriate permission to the sheet, report or template, you won't be able to remove it. Instead, you can remove your shared access to the item to remove it from browse in the left panel.
Keep in mind:
- If an item is in a workspace, then users with Admin-level permissions can delete it.
- If an item isn't in a workspace, only the Owner of that item can delete it.
Delete an item
Delete an open item
- Select File > Delete...
Delete an item from browse
- From the Browse menu, go to the item you want to remove.
- Right-click the item, and select Delete…
A confirmation message appears before the sheet is deleted.
Delete a workspace or folder
Before deleting a workspace or a folder, keep these in mind:
- Only the Owner can delete the workspace.
- The Owner or anyone with Admin-level permissions to the parent workspace can delete a folder.
- Deleting a workspace or folder will also remove all items within it. Sheets, templates, reports, and dashboards will be transferred to the Owner's deleted items section, where they can be recovered.
- When deleted, workspaces and folders cannot be recovered. Instead, you'll need to rebuild them.
Delete a folder from browse
- From the Browse menu, go to the workspace containing the folder you want to remove.
- Right-click the folder, and select Delete…
You can delete multiple folders by checking the boxes next to each one in your workspace, then selecting the delete symbol at the top or right-clicking and choosing Delete.
Delete a folder from home
- Go to Home > All workspaces.
- Open your workspace.
- Go to the three-dot menu next to your folder’s name and select Delete.
Delete a workspace from browse
- From the Browse menu, go to the workspace you want to remove.
- Right-click over the workspace name in the left panel, and select Delete…

Deleted items
Deleted items move to the Deleted Items section in the left panel.
You can recover a deleted item for up to 30 days; after that, it is permanently erased and cannot be recovered.
