Summary & Limitations

Summary

  • Creates workflows between Smartsheet and a single file in a third-party storage drive
  • A no-code platform allows users to set workflows to run on schedule in the background, centralizing data from multiple platforms & systems
  • Each workflow is a unique configuration set up by a user that defines the data they want included, column mapping from source to target, scheduling, and formula expressions

Limitations/Considerations

  • Can’t upload or offload reports, WorkApps, dashboards, attachments, or in-cell images
  • Can’t control permissions for external file locations from the Admin Center
  • Can’t leverage via Mobile
  • Data Shuttle uses GMT; it does not follow your time zone preferences from the Smartsheet app
  • If you typically work with large datasets that exceed the sheet limitation of 20,000 rows, consider uploading to a DataTable
  • It can’t automatically replace attachment versions or by attachment in Smartsheet
    • All versions will be saved on the sheet, potentially causing performance issues
    • You must manually delete the attachments or use an attachment sheet or hyperlinks

The benefit of a separate attachment sheet is that it removes complexity from a sheet that stores attachments as well as does other things (such as an Intake sheet for Control Center).
