Backup FAQ: How often can I create a backup?
You can create backups for sheets and workspaces as frequently as once every 24 hours. Daily backups must be requested one at a time.
Request a one-time backup
- On the left Navigation Bar, click Browse.
- Right-click on the name of a sheet, folder, or workspace and select Request Backup. If a workspace doesn't contain any sheets, Request Backup does not appear.
- Follow the instructions on your screen. Be sure to select Include attachments if you want them in your backup. The backup does not include attachments from online sources such as Google Drive, OneDrive, Box, Dropbox, Evernote, Egnyte, or URL.
- Click OK.
After you request a backup, you can download the backup directly from Smartsheet.
You cannot backup reports and dashboards at this time. You can export a report to save a copy of it. For information about exporting, see the article on Exporting Sheets & Reports from Smartsheet.
If you’re part of a Business or Enterprise plan, you can schedule weekly recurring backups for your top-level Sheets directory or for any workspace where you’re the owner or admin. (Not sure about what account type you have? See Identify Your Smartsheet Plan and User Type.)
