Who can use this capability
To request a sheet or workspace backup, you need viewer permissions or higher.
To request recurring workspace backups, you must be the workspace owner or admin.
Request a one-time backup
If you're a licensed user on an Enterprise or Business plan, you can request a one-time backup or a recurring backup.
You can only back up sheets and workspaces. If you're backing up a workspace, the backup email only goes to the workspace owner.
Backups don't include attachments from online sources such as Google Drive, OneDrive, Box, Dropbox, Evernote, Egnyte, and URLs.
To request a one-time backup
- On the left Navigation Bar, select Browse.
- Right-click the name of a sheet, folder, or workspace and select Request Backup. If a workspace doesn't contain any sheets, Request Backup doesn't appear.
- Follow the instructions on your screen. Be sure to select Include attachments if you want them in your backup.
- Select OK.
After you request a backup, you can download the backup directly from Smartsheet.
Always request daily backups one at a time. If you're on a Business or Enterprise plan, you can schedule recurring weekly backups.
