If you are using the web app for Smartsheet, ensure your browser clipboard settings are configured correctly.

Giving your browser access to the clipboard allows you to copy and paste data in the Smartsheet web app.
If Smartsheet isn't enabled in your browser, you might see the following error message.

Please allow clipboard permissions in your browser to copy and paste in Smartsheet.
Follow these steps to enable Smartsheet data copy and paste in your browser.
The Smartsheet app works best on Chrome and Microsoft Edge. If you’re working with sheets with over 5,000 rows, use either Chrome or Microsoft Edge. Learn more about Smartsheet system configurations.
Google Chrome
- Open the Smartsheet web app.
- In the address bar, select the view site information icon to the left of the address.
- Choose Site settings.
- Locate the Clipboard option and select Allow from the dropdown.
Microsoft Edge
- Open the Smartsheet web app.
- Select the lock icon in the address bar, to the left of the address.
- Select Permissions for this site.
- In the Clipboard setting dropdown menu, select Allow.
Firefox
Firefox doesn't allow a site to permanently access your clipboard. Instead, it displays a Paste bubble.
- Right-select the cell(s) you're pasting into. A bubble labeled Paste appears.
- Select the Paste bubble. The full option menu appears.
- Select Paste.
The contents are pasted into the cell(s).
Optionally, you can paste via the keyboard shortcut: Ctrl+V (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+V (Mac).
Firefox has an advanced global setting that allows any site to access your clipboard, but it's not recommended.
Safari
Safari doesn't allow a site to permanently access your clipboard. Instead, it displays a Paste bubble.
Here are the steps:
- Right-select the cell(s) you're pasting into. A bubble labeled Paste appears.
- Select the Paste bubble. The full option menu appears.
- Select Paste.
The contents are pasted into the cell(s).
Desktop app
Here are your options for pasting clipboard contents into a Sheet in Table View in the desktop app.
Double-click the cell to activate its editor, and then paste your content.
Switch to Grid View temporarily to paste your content.
