Features free users can't access

This article is for unpaid Admins and Editors. If you don’t see the Request a license button, then you either already have access to Smartsheet, or you're a Viewer or Guest on a subscription plan.

Paying, licensed users can manage work (create, build, orchestrate, control, automate) and non-paid, free users can collaborate (view, edit where applicable, comment). 

If you're a free user and attempt to access a feature you don’t have access to, you’re prompted to upgrade. You can also select the Request a License or Upgrade buttons at any time.

The following list includes features that free users can't access. 

Sheets

  • Create sheets and other assets
  • Create and manage shared filters
  • Create conditional formatting
  • Send rows
  • Lock rows and columns
  • Publish sheets
  • Edit project settings
  • Save sheets as a template

Reports and dashboards

  • Create and edit reports in the report builder
  • Remove columns from a report
  • Publish reports and dashboards

Alerts, reminders, and requests

  • Create and manage manual reminders for other people
  • Create and manage manual update requests
  • Create and manage automated alerts and reminders
