Connect Smartsheet and Resource Management accounts

To use the Smartsheet panel for Resource Management, you must first authorize the connection between Smartsheet and Resource Management.

  • Business
  • Resource Management

Permissions:

Any user who is a Resourcing Admin in Resource Management and a paid user in a Smartsheet plan can authorize the account connection.

Find out if this capability is included in Smartsheet Regions or Smartsheet Gov.

If you use Sign in with Smartsheet for your Resource Management account, skip this article because your connection authorizes automatically.

Here's how to authorize your connection between Smartsheet and Resource Management. 

  1. Open Account Settings, for your scenario:
    • If you're working in Resource Management in Smartsheet, select the kebab menu in the top right corner, and then select Account Settings.
    • If you're working in standalone Resource Management, select SettingsAccount Settings.
  2. Select Activate Smartsheet Authentication.
  3. Sign in to Resource Management with your Smartsheet credentials and Allow Access to the Smartsheet account.

With Smartsheet Authentication activated, Resource Management and Smartsheet accounts are connected. Resource Management users can sign in with Smartsheet and be part of any Smartsheet plan, provided they're paid users in the connected Resource Management plan.

Adding users to Resource Management

If you sign in to Resource Management using email/password or Resource Management single sign-on (SSO), you must configure people in your Resource Management account before you can use the panel. Learn how to add users to your Resource Management account.

Users must have an email address that matches between Smartsheet and Resource Management to be managed in the integration.

If you use Sign in with Smartsheet for your Resource Management account, users that are in Smartsheet but not Resource Management are automatically added as an Unmanaged Resources

Errors and resolutions

Your Smartsheet account does not belong to any organization.

Ask your Smartsheet admin to name the organization by adding a user to the Smartsheet plan.

You need to be a paid member of the Smartsheet organization in order to make this connection.

This error occurs when the Resourcing Admin isn't a member of the Smartsheet organization or is only a collaborator. Ask your Smartsheet Admin to add you as a paid member of the Smartsheet organization.
