Smartsheet access blocked and message about prohibited locations

If you receive a message that Smartsheet access is blocked due to your location, this article explains why and what to do.

When you attempt to access Smartsheet from certain locations, you may receive the following message:

"You are attempting to access Smartsheet from a prohibited location under the sanctions programs of the United States Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC)."

Why access is blocked

Consistent with the regulations of the United States Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC), Smartsheet restricts access from the following locations: 

  • Crimea (Avtonomna Respublika Krym)
  • Democratic People's Republic of Korea
  • Islamic Republic of Iran
  • Republic of Belarus
  • Republic of Cuba
  • Syrian Arab Republic

This list reflects current OFAC sanctions regulations and may change over time. For the most up-to-date information, refer to the OFAC sanctions programs page.

For System Admins

If a user reports being blocked and believes it's an error, ask them to confirm they aren't connected through a VPN or proxy server that routes traffic through one of the listed locations. If the issue persists, contact Smartsheet Support.
