With Notification Center, you can stay informed and take action on important tasks and updates as you work in Smartsheet.

Notification Center Overview

Notification Center provides a way to quickly take action on other items (update requests, approval requests, notifications) as you work in Smartsheet. To best take advantage of Notification Center, set up notification rules. See Automate Your Work Process with Alerts and Actions.

Configure How You’re Notified

You’ll always receive notifications through Notification Center. By default, you’ll also receive mobile push and email notifications. To change how you’re notified, see Configure How You Receive Notifications from Smartsheet.

Set Up Notification Rules to Receive Notifications

To receive sheet change notifications in Notification Center, you’ll need to be included in notification rules. You may have already set these up, or others may have set up rules with you included as a receiver.

To learn more about sheet change notifications, check out Automate Your Work Process with Alerts and Actions.

Open Notification Center

Whether on a mobile device or desktop browser, you can open Notification Center anywhere from within Smartsheet.

Open Notification Center on Desktop

Select Notification Center in the upper-right corner of the Smartsheet window.

Open Notification Center on Mobile

From the Smartsheet for iOS or the Smartsheet for Android app, tap the Notification notification-mobile-icon icon in the lower-right corner:

Take Action on Notifications

Notification Center is designed so you can view and quickly take action on notifications. You can also clear notifications that you no longer need, or let them automatically clear after 30 days.

While in Notification Center, select a specific notification to see a detailed view and take further action.

  1. Select the name of the sheet to quickly open it and take action.
  2. Select Expand to see a full view of the rows in the notification.

Mobile: When viewing a notification on Smartsheet for iOS and Android, tap Expand enlarge-mobile and pinch to zoom.

You can unsubscribe from or exclude your changes at the bottom of the detailed notification view:

  • Select Unsubscribe to stop receiving that particular notification.
You won’t be able to re-subscribe to the alert or action unless you have Admin-level permissions on the sheet. If you unsubscribe in error, reach out to the sheet Owner or someone with Admin-level permissions and ask them to share you to the sheet with Admin-level permissions or clone the original workflow to subscribe all users.
  • Select Exclude your changes from all notifications if you only want to be notified on actions that others take on a sheet. You can opt to receive notifications on your own changes at a later time with the steps in Configure How you Receive Notifications from Smartsheet.

Clear Notifications You Don’t Need

Notifications stay in Notification Center for up to 30 days, after which they are automatically removed. You can manually clean up Notification Center by dismissing notifications that you don’t need to take further action on.

Removed notifications cannot be recovered. If you need a record of notifications beyond 30 days, make sure to leave email notifications turned on in your Notification Settings. See Configure How You Receive Notifications from Smartsheet for information on changing your notification settings.

Clear Notifications on Desktop

You can clear notifications individually or all at once:

  • Individually: Hover over the notification in the Notification Center panel and select the Delete (trash) icon.

  • Clear all notifications: Select Clear all notifications at the bottom of Notification Center.

If you need to roll back the notifications you cleared after selecting Clear All, you can select Undo at the top of Notification Center. The Undo option becomes unavailable after 10 seconds or when Notification Center is closed, after which the notifications cannot be recovered.
