Resource Management allows you to create different types of time off and add that time off to the schedule so you know who's available to work on your projects — and when.

It's important to know who's available when you're scheduling work. Assigning leave shows blocks allocated to leave, similar to projects, so you can see conflicts.
You can set leave types and holidays for your company. Learn how to configure leave types and official holidays.
Add leave time to a person on the schedule
- In the top navigation, select Schedule.
- At the top of the left panel, select People.
- In the row for the person, select the date range for the leave.
- Select New Assignment, then search for or scroll down to the leave type you want to add and select a leave type (at the bottom of the list). The leave appears on the schedule.
By default, new assignments, including leave, appear on the schedule at 100% allocation for one week. You can select the leave to change the dates or the allocation.
You can also drag the assignment handles to adjust the duration.
Best practices and tips
Unlike holidays and weekends, Resource Management doesn't automatically subtract leave hours from availability calculations. Hours scheduled as leave are treated the same as work hours.
- Since leave isn't a project, it won't appear in the integration panel in Smartsheet. Create reports to provide a roll-up of all scheduled leaves.
- You may want to split assignments after you’ve added the leave.
