Find out if this capability is included in Smartsheet Regions or Smartsheet Gov.

Follow the instructions below to add widgets to a dashboard and adjust them to present actionable insights.

Before you begin

  1. Select the dashboard you want to edit. If you haven’t already created one, create a dashboard
  2. Open the dashboard editor by selecting Edit > Edit Dashboard from the main menu.

Alternatively, you can open the dashboard editor by selecting the Edit Dashboard  icon   Brandfolder Image pencil icon  on the right side of the top menu bar.

Add a widget to a dashboard

Smartsheet has various widgets to display information on dashboards. Here’s how you add those widgets to your dashboard.

  1. In the dashboard’s editor, select Edit > Add Widget on the main menu, and select the widget type you want.

    The widget appears on the dashboard canvas, and the widget settings panel appears on the right side.

    For example, the image below shows a newly added chart widget (left) and the widget settings panel (right).

The widget settings panel that appears depends on the widget type.

Alternatively, you can open the Add Widget panel by selecting the Add Widgets icon  Brandfolder Image Start a new project, program, or process.  on the right side bar. In the Add Widget panel, select the widget you want.

  1. In the right panel, edit the widget settings.

  1. You can save your changes by selecting File > Save on the main menu.

Alternatively, select Save on the right side of the top menu bar.

Your new widget appears on the dashboard.

Edit a widget’s settings


Each widget has settings you can adjust to make the widget fit your needs.

  1. Select the More icon  Brandfolder Image Kebab menu icon  in the top right corner of the widget, and select Edit.

    The widget settings panel appears on the right side.

The type of settings that appear depends on the widget type.

Alternatively, you can access a widget’s settings by double-clicking the widget.

  1. Adjust the widget settings the way you want.

  1. Save your changes by selecting File > Save on the main menu.


Your widget reflects its new settings.

Resize a widget

Select a corner of the widget and drag that corner to resize the widget.

Move a widget

Select the widget and drag it to the desired location on your dashboard.

Remove a widget

Select the More icon  Brandfolder Image Kebab menu icon  in the top right corner of the widget and then select Delete.

The widget disappears from the dashboard.
