Troubleshooting Resource Management panel sync errors

If there are sync issues between Smartsheet and the Resource Management panel, you may see one of the error messages listed below.

This article is only applicable to users who have both a Resource Management and Smartsheet account. 

Sheet sync errors

The following sheet synchronization errors appear in the Resource Management panel in Smartsheet. Review the message, make the suggested changes, then try again.

Sheet ID not foundPlease try disconnecting this sheet from the project and then reconnecting it.This error occurs when the Panel is unable to find the project sheet ID.
Multi-assignee to placeholder not permittedRemove the placeholders in the multi-assignee column and update the value to a named person.This error occurs when a multi-assignee cell has a combination of named people and placeholders.
Row ID not foundPlease update and save your row assignment and try syncing again.This error occurs when a row syncing fails the first time and the row mapping did not occur.
Parent row dates cannot be updatedPlease only sync child rows to ensure parent row dates are updated correctly.This error occurs when dates for parent rows are updated in Resource Management. Dates for parent rows in Smartsheet are not editable. Update only child row dates to allow syncing.
Allocation parent row cannot be updatedPlease only sync child rows to ensure parent row allocations are updated correctly.This error occurs when dates for parent rows are updated in Resource Management. Allocations for parent rows in Smartsheet are not editable. Update only child row dates to allow syncing.
Excludes cell due to column formula.Please try manually updating the assignment in Smartsheet and then try syncing again.This error occurs when an assignment in Resource Management is updated that has a column formula in Smartsheet. Cells with a column formula are not editable. Manually updated the assignment in Smartsheet to allow syncing.

Network errors

Error messageResolutionExplanation
Something went wrong syncing with Resource Management.Please make an update to your sheet and save the changes to try syncing again.Network or system errors can interrupt sync to Resource Management. Make sure your network is online before you save the sheet for syncing. If your network is active and the sheet doesn’t sync, submit a support ticket.

 

It is best practice to confirm that the Allocation in % column is unlocked and that any populating contacts in the Assigned to column are part of your Smartsheet organization and have user accounts with the same email address in Resource Management (licensed user or managed resource).
