Downgrade account, add-on, or other product

You can downgrade to a different plan type, remove Members (licenses in the legacy model) from your plan, or discontinue an add-on to your product.

Before you downgrade

Downgrading a Smartsheet plan requires contacting Smartsheet directly. You can't do it through the app. Your billing relationship determines who to reach out to:

You can't downgrade from a Business or Enterprise plan to the Pro plan.

To downgrade to a different plan type, remove Member designations, or discontinue an add-on or other product:

Recurring credit card

To downgrade your plan type or discontinue an add-on or other product, contact Smartsheet Support. If you can’t sign in to the Support Portal, reach out to Billing Support instead.

In the user model, you can also change a user's seat type from Member to Guest or from Contributor to free, freeing up an assigned Member seat without a full plan downgrade. Learn more about managing users.

To downgrade to a different plan type, remove licenses, or discontinue an add-on or other product:

Recurring credit card

Remove licenses 

  1. Sign in to your account and select the Account icon.
  2. Select User Management to see a list of users.
  3. Select the user's email address you wish to remove a license from.
  4. Uncheck the Licensed User box.
  5. Select Save.

Downgrade account

  1. Go back to the Smartsheet home screen at app.smartsheet.com.
  2. Select the Account icon.
  3. Select Add Licenses / Upgrade
  4. The Change Your Plan form will then appear. From the drop-down menu, select the number of licenses you want. 
  5. Select Purchase.

Paypal or Legacy plans

Remove licenses

  1. Sign in to your account and select the Account icon.
  2. Select User Management to see a list of users.
  3. Select the user's email address you wish to remove a license from.
  4. Un-check the Licensed User box.
  5. Select Save.

Downgrade account

  1. Go back to the Smartsheet home screen at app.smartsheet.com.
  2. Select the Account Icon.
  3. Select Add Licenses/Upgrade.
  4. In the Change Your Plan form, select the number of licenses you want from the drop-down menu.
  5. Select Purchase.
